(Moses speaking) "You said, 'I know you by name, and you have also found favor in My sight.' Now if I have indeed found favor in Your sight, please teach me Your ways, and I will know You and find favor in Your sight. Now consider that this nation is Your people.'

Then He replied, 'My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.'

'If Your presence does not go,' Moses responded to Him, 'don't make us go up from here. How will it be known that I and Your people have found favor in Your sight unless You go with us? I and Your people will be distinguished by this from all the other people on the face of the earth.'

The Lord answered Moses, 'I will do this very thing you have asked, for you have found favor in My sight, and I know you by name.'

Then Moses said, 'Please, let me see Your glory.'" --Exodus 33:13-18

The Lord led me to this passage today, and I just couldn't help but share. It has quickly become my desire for Guatemala. It is the cry of my heart that the Lord will go ahead of us, that He will lead us, guide us, and surround us with His presence. And that He will reveal to us His glory. He did it for Moses, and I have faith that He will do it for us. I'm so very excited about this trip, and my excitement seems to somehow grow on a daily basis. It's gonna be an awesome summer.

I suppose I should introduce myself. My name is Meg and I hail from the coast of the grand state of Georgia. I think the Lord is preparing me for the epic heat we will be experiencing in just two weeks by giving us record highs (it's 101 degrees today!!) and nonstop sun. I gotta say, I love it. I'm a small town, Southern girl and I do love my summer heat waves, lemonade (nothing better than Chick Fil A!), and country music (while it's my favorite besides legit worship music, I like pretty much anything). I live on a small farm with my dad and grandmother, where we have two horses, chickens, a pig, and lots of bunnies! So this is my upbringing; let me tell yall a little bit about my life:

I am a rising sophomore at the University of Georgia with an anticipated major in early childhood education. I am an active participant in UGA's Wesley Foundation, which is how I learned about Real Life. Though it was a difficult transition, I now LOVE college. :)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE kids!!! I can't adequately tell yall how big my heart is for children. God revealed to me this passion last summer in Romania (my first international mission trip--yay!), and it has only grown since then. I had an internship last semester at a private school as a teacher's aide for a kindergarten class, and I became somewhat obsessed haha. Who wouldn't want to play with playdough and color all day? I especially have a heart for children overseas, who live in poverty and may not have a family. I read the 'Orphans' post on the blog today for the first time, and honestly teared up. I genuinely hope we have the opportunity to minister to children, specifically orphans, this summer in Guatemala.

I have a huge passion for the nations. This will be my fifth mission trip, my third out of country (I have been to Braila, Romania and Port Maria, Jamaica as well)--and I have loved every moment of it. I love experiencing other cultures and learning other languages (Spanish will be fun this summer haha)....and I love dining on delicious international cuisine! But most of all, I love how God moves when we are on mission. He's incredible. And I'm sure He has some fantastic things up His sleeve for us and those we encounter this summer.

I think those are the important things to know about me...Fun fact time? I think yes

  • I adore the outdoors and find that nature is where I am most at peace
  • I am completely un-athletic haha
  • I have a great affection for animals, especially horses
  • Coffee is pretty much a daily necessity, and I drink it black (or with a bit of soy milk and brown sugar; that's tasty too...don't knock it till you try it!)
  • Cooking and baking are some of my favorite pasttimes
  • My favorite color changes pretty much on a daily basis, but today I'm feelin green
  • I'm an intense procrastinator, hence the lateness of this bio post haha
  • I don't sleep very much...I love staying up late, but I also love being up in the morning. Oftentimes, this conundrum prevents me from sleeping at night at all. But I do love afternoon naps!
  • Disney is basically the best thing since sliced bread. I LOVE The Lion King, and I will argue incessantly that it has beautiful parallels to our relationship with God.
  • I am weirdly obsessed with going on roadtrips. Thankfully, several of my friends are too. Back in April, we drove 1104 miles...in 23 hours haha. We definitely did not have that intention when we set out, but we let the Lord guide and found ourselves experiencing some very cool things. Plus, it's a great way to bond with people; after all, you are trapped in a car with them in an unknown place listening to awesome cds.

So I think that's about it. I seriously can't wait to get to know all of you over this summer. It's gonna be great :)

Some parting words:

"Let us strive to know the Lord. His appearance is as sure as the dawn. He will come to us like the rain, like the spring showers that water the land." Hosea 6:3

So let it rain!
