So the Lord has really put it on my heart to be a light. I know we all know that as Christians we are supposed to be lights to the world but sometimes I feel like we forget that verse.  I sit and I watch the world around me and how it’s just covered in darkness and me knowing who I am in Christ should be able to shine so brightly that the darkness flees. I’ve been looking up so many verses about light and darkness and it’s just so awesome how many verses I have found in the New and Old Testament.

Think how light works, if you are in the dark you are just as good as blind, because you cannot see anything but turn the light on and you know where you are, what’s around you and what things look like. Lost people are in the dark and they don’t know that, they don’t even have a clue what the light and dark analogy refers to either. Shining a light on them will reveal to them that there is something more to their world that they haven’t yet experienced. One of the verses that really stick to me is Acts 26:18 when Paul tells King Agrippa about how Jesus appeared to him on his journey to Damascus "to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me." I feel like God did the same thing to me last summer when I was driving home because just randomly I felt God ask me what I was doing for him, I was a Christian but I just got to a point in my life where I thought I was good enough and wasn’t trying to grow and shine bright. God told me I needed to turn up the wattage and shine the light he gave me brighter and take it to the darkness.

Now in my walk with God I just think that Jesus is my best friend and that’s exactly what he is, he sticks closer than a brother. "One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." (Proverbs 18:24). I like to keep in mind that Jesus is always with me wherever I go and I don’t want to go somewhere he wouldn’t go or take part in something he wouldn’t take part in. He is a guest in my heart and I should give him the comfort that he deserves so he stays. My life should make him happy and give him a reason to be my best friend. Anyways back to what I was saying is that with him in my life, I should be able to shine brightly in the dark and show a new life to the lost. 

Guatemala is only a few months away and I want to encourage everyone to remember that we must have our lights shining brightly. Why be a candle when you can be a spotlight? Together we can get rid of the dark and spread a new light so that there will be no more darkness. "If you extend your soul to the hungry and satisfy the afflicted soul, then your light shall dawn in the darkness, and your darkness shall be as the noonday." (Isaiah 58:10). One of my pastors likes to make sure we are prepared before we go out and do ministry and I think we need to do the same and just be prepared so we don’t get beat up. We have a light to shine and let’s shine it like the sun! Lets become a SUPERNOVA!
